The next scale we will look at from the East is called the Arabian scale.

It has a major third so we can say that it is generally major. However, Look at the “top” of the scale for all the fun. The flat 5,6 and 7 provide a very unique and exotic feel.

You will find melodies created with this scale to have many unexpected twists and turns, and that is why I am fond of this scale.

It brings out the mysterious and mystical sounds of the Middle East, and always has a new surprise

After experimenting with melodies, try forming some “new” chords from this scale. Perhaps this scale has another name somewhere.

Research in progress.
