This scale is another that comes to us from Japan. We'll call it Kumoi natural 2nd, since that is the only variation from the Kumoi scale.
This scale is quite similar to the Kumoi scale varying by the addition of the flat seventh.
The P'yongio scale comes to us from China and like many Chinese scales has a beautiful, sparse,open aspect.
The Kokin Joshi differs from the Natural Minorin that it has a flattened second, and the third and sixth notes are ommitted.
Use this in the same context as the whole tone scale for a disorienting effecton the listener.
