This scale comes to us from India and is closely related to the Persia Major scale. You might also think of the Indian 1 scale as Phrygian with a sharp 4 and 7.

This scale has 3 note chromatic runs in 2 different parts of the scale: #4,5,b6 AND 7,1,b2.

This is a striking feature and you should use it to your advantage.

It provides an excellent opportunity for trills and glissando.
