contest. Strange is beautiful, so let’s proceed.

The Irak scale comes to us from what is now modern Iraq.

Although this scale is similar to the Locrian, Chromatic, 5th mode harmonic minor, and others, it is unique and distinctly bizzarre.

It has a middle eastern flavor that is unmistakable and brings to mind an Iraqi bizarre, open air market.

It’s a scale that takes some getting used to… if you’re not used to it.

I have grown to love the beautiful melodies that can be found in this scale.
