The Rhaoui scale comes to us from the Middle East.

I surmise that it is also used in the music of the far east as I have seen the same scale being called “oriental”.

This is a scale that is much like the Locrian mode, the difference being that the Locrian has a flat third and the Rhaoui a natural third.

This scale has a restless wondering quality which is suggestive and relaxing.

Listen to and use these scales with an open mind if you are not from the Middle Eastern musical cultures.

Enjoy!

This design is incredible! You definitely know how to keep a reader entertained. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Fantastic job. I really enjoyed what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it. Too cool!
