The next Eastern scale we’ll look at is Oriental 2. l. It is a major scale type. It differs from the Major Scale in that it has a flattened second, fifth, and seventh.

This scale only differs from the Rhaoui in that it has a natural instead of a flat fifth.

The Oriental 2 is full of surprising twists and turns.

It always keeps you guessing and is a real gem.

It has an elusive and mystical quality to it and it’s eastern roots are apparent in it’s exotic tonality.

The chromatic run from the third to the flat fifth puts you quite off guard for the next big step and half jump to the sixth.
