The Kumoi is a Minor Pentatonic scale type. It differs from the Natural Minor in that it has a flattened second and sixth note, and the third and seventh notes are ommitted.

The Kumoi Scale is a wonderful, zen sounding sequence that comes to us from Japan.

Like many other scales from Japan it tends to emphasize the isolated half step interval.

This stands in contrast to the scales of China which are Pentatonic based and emphasized more evenly spaced intervals.

However, Chinese and Japanese Scales both typically feature an open sound, having fewer notes than Western scales.

Notice the gigantic gaps between the 2nd and 3rd notes and the 5th and 6th notes of the scale. Those are two step gaps, yo!!

I’m not sure why but this blog is loading incredibly slow for me. Is anyone else having this problem or is it a problem on my end? I’ll check back later and see if the problem still exists.

Heya just wanted to give you a brief heads up and let you know a few of the pictures aren’t loading correctly. I’m not sure why but I think its a linking issue. I’ve tried it in two different web browsers and both show the same results.
